David and Catherine

Yesterday was our first wedding of 2007 and what a fab start, we were at the Marriott Hotel and country club in the Meon Valley photographing the long awaited wedding of Catherine and Dave.

We were once again blessed with fab February weather and had a fantastic time.

Catherine looked fantastic and David spent the day looking like "The cat that got the cream" all in all it was a sea of smiling faces from very early till very late when we left.

Protecting your precious memories !

Every year our collection of hard drives in our data safe keeps on growing and growing so this year we decided to setup a new system to backup and protect your photographs. A system that would grow with us over the next couple of years and one which will give us a guaranteed backup without relying on unknown things like the reliability of DVDs for long term storage.

We knew this would be an expensive project to undertake but you all know how much I like my gadgets and just how much sue likes me to spend our money :).

After a long search I stumbled across a local company Rentaraid Neil at Rentaraid was a great help in deciding exactly what system to put in place and ultimately in setting up my system. We opted for a system called Sonnet Fusion which are basically stacked SATA hard drives all linked together with a port replicator.

We chose to buy and install 3 of them, A working drive of around 2.5 Terabyte and a second to create automatic nightly backups as we have always done and then a third box for a weekly backup which we store offstite for protection in the event of fire or flood or theft. These boxes are upgradable to 5 Terabyte with today's drives which is an awful lot of wedding photos :).

We still also backup to DVD on the night of the wedding so at no time after arriving back at the studio do we have any less than 3 copies of your photographs and by the next morning 5 copies. We both feel its an important part of our business and that the investment was worth while.

Now to concentrate on talking Sue into that new S4
